Artist’s Tools & Techniques

Exploration of artwork in the gallery and different painting techniques used.

Developing an understanding of how different pigments are made and different types of  paints, brushes & supports.

 Activities include: pigment making, colour mixing and painting on canvas.

 

Printmaking

Drawing and discussing artwork & furniture in the gallery.

Introduction to simple mono & collograph printing techniques.

Activities experimenting with mono and collograph printing based around drawings.

 

 Acetate Mobile Making

Drawing and discussing artwork & furniture in the gallery

Demonstration of glass painting on acetate techniques.

Creation of acetate mobiles based on sketches made in the gallery

 

 Workshops can be modified to suit any school topic.

Each workshop is accompanied by an education pack for teachers.

All workshops can accommodate pupils with special education needs.

Puppet Making Workshop & Show

Group story board design, set design, movable puppet making and production of show.

The show can be based around any class book or current topic.

 Lantern Painting: Healthy Eating Theme

Sensory box activity, healthy eating discussion and quiz.

Demonstration of glass painting on acetate techniques.

Acetate lantern making and painting activity, inspired by fruit & vegetables.

 

Mono & Collograph Printing

Introduction to simple mono and collograph printing techniques.

Activities experimenting with mono and collograph printing based around chosen topic.

 

Story in a Globe Lantern

Discussion of main characters and images from story.

Demonstration of glass painting on acetate techniques.

Decoration and creation of lantern structure, creation of acetate figures/objects.

Individual or large scale group globes can be produced.

 

Paper Marbling & Origami

Demonstration of marbling. Paper marbling Activity.

Introduction of simple origami techniques. Origami Activities.

Option to create an origami puppet show relating to a class book or topic.
